This is introduction
| Profiled class IRI(s) | dcat:Catalog |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#Catalogue |
| Label | Catalogue |
| Definition | A catalogue or repository that hosts the Datasets or Data Services being described. |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | A Web-based data catalog is typically represented as a single instance of this class. Datasets and data services are examples of resources in the context of a data catalog. |
| Profiled relationship IRI(s) | dcat:dataset |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#Catalogue.dataset |
| Label | dataset |
| Definition | A Dataset that is part of the Catalogue. |
| Domain | Catalogue |
| Range | Dataset [0..*] |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | As empty Catalogues are usually indications of problems, this property should be combined with the property service to implement an empty Catalogue check. |
| Profiled relationship IRI(s) | dcat:record |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#Catalogue.record |
| Label | record |
| Definition | A Catalogue Record that is part of the Catalogue. |
| Domain | Catalogue |
| Range | Catalogue Record [0..*] |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Profiled relationship IRI(s) | dcat:service |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#Catalogue.service |
| Label | service |
| Definition | A site or end-point (Data Service) that is listed in the Catalogue. |
| Domain | Catalogue |
| Range | Data Service [0..*] |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | As empty Catalogues are usually indications of problems, this property should be combined with the property dataset to implement an empty Catalogue check. |
| Profiled class IRI(s) | dcat:CatalogRecord |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#CatalogueRecord |
| Label | Catalogue Record |
| Definition | A record in a catalog, describing the registration of a single dcat:Resource. |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | This class is optional and not all catalogs will use it. It exists for catalogs where a distinction is made between metadata about a dataset or service and metadata about the entry in the catalog about the dataset or service. For example, the publication date property of the dataset reflects the date when the information was originally made available by the publishing agency, while the publication date of the catalog record is the date when the dataset was added to the catalog. In cases where both dates differ, or where only the latter is known, the publication date SHOULD only be specified for the catalog record. Notice that the W3C PROV Ontology [[PROV-O]] allows describing further provenance information such as the details of the process and the agent involved in a particular change to a dataset or its registration. |
Backwards associations
| Profiled relationship IRI(s) | foaf:primaryTopic |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#CatalogueRecord.primaryTopic |
| Label | primary topic |
| Definition | A link to the Dataset, Data service or Catalog described in the record. |
| Domain | Catalogue Record |
| Range | Catalogued Resource [1..1] |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | A catalogue record will refer to one entity in a catalogue. This can be either a Dataset or a Data Service. To ensure an unambigous reading of the cardinality the range is set to Catalogued Resource. However it is not the intend with this range to require the explicit use of the class Catalogued Record. As abstract class, an subclass should be used. |
| Profiled class IRI(s) | dcat:Resource |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#CataloguedResource |
| Label | Catalogued Resource |
| Definition | Resource published or curated by a single agent. |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | This class Catalogued Resource is an abstract class for DCAT-AP. Therefore only subclasses should be used in a data exchange. |
Backwards associations
| Profiled class IRI(s) | dcat:DataService |
| IRI | https://mff-uk.github.io/specifications/dcat-ap-hvd#DataService |
| Label | Data Service |
| Definition | A collection of operations that provides access to one or more datasets or data processing functions. |
| Hierarchy |
|
| Usage note | If a dcat:DataService is bound to one or more specified Datasets, they are indicated by the dcat:servesDataset property. The kind of service can be indicated using the dcterms:type property. Its value may be taken from a controlled vocabulary such as the INSPIRE spatial data service type code list [INSPIRE-SDST]. |
